| Yay, I'm home AND attacking my pillow pet!!! |
Mattie came home today- yahoo!!! But tonight, I'm feeling this weird sense of deja vu (and I'm not talking about the sketchy strip club in Northern Indiana and Southeastern Michigan). It's a feeling that I've been here before- kind of.
I remember coming home from the hospital after Mattie was born feeling so nervous about what was to come. I remember coming home after her first bout with RSV feeling so thankful that she was ok, but still so nervous of what was to come. After her heart surgery, I felt so thankful- so thankful that we had such a lil' fighter, that everything went so well, that we had the rest of our lives to look forward to, yet still nervous about her recovery. As we come home today, I feel so glad and so tired. For the first time, I don't feel nervous and it's a great feeling. Mattie is a healthy rambunxious little girl. She'll get infections, she'll get sick, and I'm sure we'll be back on the 11th floor at Mott again in our lives, but she's tough and she's going to be fine.

| The smile.. minutes after crying for her pacifier :) |
Truth be told, Mattie is such a little shit. I say that in a good way. I can almost hear you all, in unison shouting, "she's your daughter Lisa, what'd you expect?" And I get it, she
is my daughter, of course she's a little shit. While we were in the hospital, she got really great at pulling herself up on things. She got even better at repeating things-- mimicking us. Her fake cry became unbelievably believable-- when she gets what she wants she even gives you Ken's grin (it's a grin that without saying anything at all says everything- to me, it shouts, while laughing ofcourse, "I win. You lose"). She learned to throw her pacifier (oh boy softball here we come) and even became maniacal about breaking down the walls of her crib (I swear, had we stayed one more day that crib would have been toast). I love that Mattie is a lil' shit. I love that she's fiesty. I love that she's got a personality already. I love that she's a perfect mix of both of our personalities. I love that she will NEVER give up. I know this because the crib told me so... and because of this, I'm back to feeling nervous!
